What's a good mosquito/bug skin repellent to use when travelling in a tropical area?

Anything with DEET works. I've been to very rural areas in Nicaragua and Thailand and I've used standard bug spray from the grocery store, OFF- deep woods and I think that worked the best. I also bought a spray that you can put on your clothes a few days before you travel so it has time to dry that will repel bugs when you wear the clothes. That was highly potent and annoying to use. I forget the name of it but you can get it at any travel medicine clinic. Good luck! What's a good mosquito/bug skin repellent to use when travelling in a tropical area?
I live in southern Mexico and I find the best one is called AUTAN. It comes in a lotion in a tube and in a spray. I prefer the lotion as it has no odor . It is very effective and is available in grocery stores and pharmacies for less than $4.00 a tube. The best thing to use after you get a bite is called ANDANTON and is available without a prescription at pharmacies. You just rub some into the bite several times during the 1st 15 min. or so after you get the bite...and it suddenly stops itching. it also prevents the horrid swelling some of the insect bites cause. I have tried many things, and these 2 are the best. What's a good mosquito/bug skin repellent to use when travelling in a tropical area?
