Hanging up bags of water could also attract mosquitoes. The best way to keep flies away is to keep your house as clean as possible. Make sure you take out all of your garbage right away because it is the rotting food that attracts flies. To get rid of flies, you just have to clean, clean, clean, and swat them or suck them up with vacuum if you don't want to spray with chemicals. I don't know of anything else. How do I keep flies away? I am going to assume your home is clean and fresh. Use fresh mint [the green stuff from the garden] - flies don't like the smell. You could also try the old fashioned 'sticky paper' hangers - stops them dead! For yourself, don't use perfume or hair spray as they are attracted to the smell. Bunches of mint in vases [or small containers] at a BBQ do help to keep the flies away. Good luck! How do I keep flies away? What is a good repellent?
Take a bath!
Go to your local hardware and buy fly traps, they are usually a jar with holes in the lid and an attractant inside. They work very well.
something that doesnt use any chemicals:
fill up bags of water and hang them where ever you need them. When the flies go up to the bag they see themselves a lot larger then they are (has to do with thier eyes reflecting off the water) and it scares them away.
