sounds to me like you dog needs attention, I assume he is probably still a puppy. A good squirt gun will make him think twice about chewing on things while your around, just shoot it at his nose, but be repetitive or he wont learn. while you are gone lock up anything he might get into get child safety locks for your cupboards and keep all the doors closed that you can keep him to one area of the house. and play with him allot with toys that you would like him to chew up instead.Does anybody know a homemade dog repellent?
Alcohol, but it evaporate quickly. The best thing to do is purchase a trash can that does not allow a dog to get into it. The link below will let you see some. There are some that have a locking mechanisim. You have to depress the peddle to open it. They work great. As for your shoes, well you're just going to have to put them up.
PEPPER
Cinnamon, Eucalyptus (plants or oil), sour apple. Any of these essential oils will repel dogs and wont stain. You can purchase specially formulated sprays at pet stores which wont stain the items you spray them on. I use the Eucalyptus spray to keep my puppy off shoes and furniture. It really works and its safe.
Try moth balls. Put a few in the trash can and in each shoe.
I always used cayenne pepper. You could use it in the trash. Also get some bitter apple spray rather inexpensive, and it is colorless.
spray the items with amonia.....that'll put a stop to it.
Keep the trash out of reach (we keep ours in the garage off the kitchen) and put your shoes away.
Please don't go to chemicals and store bought products. Just teach her that it's wrong and keep your house clean and put things away.
you could get a trash can with a lid and keep your shoes put up, Are you gone alot your dog may have separation anxiety!Keep rawhide chewies available for him to chew on. Are you able to give your dog enough excercise walking, running, play time outside with you, because your dog may just be bored!Hope this helps
Hide your trash. Give him one pair of your shoes. Hide the rest of your shoes. That's the real answer.
I coudnt find a single thing that worked on my dog at all to stop that behavior in him, but after I gave him a pair of my shoes just for himself, he stopped chewing all my others, and after hiding the trash for about a year or so, I can now keep it out and normally he wont go into it - unless he smells like steak or pizza or something like that.
concentrated lemon juice and vinegar....mix it together in a spray bottle add some water...spray AROUND the area of your shoes...
the smell should deter him and if he gets any in his mouth the taste definetly will without harming him...(your shoes may smell like lemons for awhile.....)
